Rust that clings to the form

The rose and the piece of barbed wire each have barbs to protect and to ward off intruders.  One delicate and one tough. Both are subject to rust and each has a means of defence which can trap the unwary.  Here, I was interested in the echo of the barb in a plant from nature, and a wire made by people, and both introduced.
